I had a lovely evening at Town Restaurant with some of the members of the Hawaii chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier. Town is known for using a lot of local ingredients. Here is what was on the menu.
Blistered Shishito Peppers, these were great, not too spicy, with a nice presentation
Tokyo Turnips with Town Green Goddess Dressing, crisp and slightly sweet, very refreshing although we were freezing on the patio. Nice retro touch with the dressing.
Pan Tomate with Manchego Cheese, a classic Spanish tapa. I used to serve this in my restaurant; it was very nice here, again with a great presentation
French Fries and Fried Green Beans with Herbs and Garlic Aioli, fries were nice and crisp, I loved the green beans with a corn meal batter.
Sautéed Big Island Mushrooms served over Polenta, this dish was great for a chilly night, and the presentation was fantastic with the small cast iron pan.
Black Mussels in a Cinzano Broth with Fennel and Pastina, didn’t get a picture but it really warmed us up.
Bruschetta with South Shore Tako and Borlotti Beans. Tako is octopus, this dish had a really good textural feel going on and it was seasoned spot on.
Kulana Strip Loin topped with Roquefort Butter and Baby Arugula Salad, I had to go and missed this but I am sure it was wonderful as well
Over all the meal and service was terrific
